Two Mile Run County Park

Lake Justus

Early Spring, 2013

April, 2013 is here, but the snowflakes are also still hanging around. The weatherman is promising us improving weather, so let's hope he is right. The first day of Trout Season is April 13th and Justus Lake is being stocked on April 9th. The PA Fish Commission has changed the rules this year and, unlike in prior years, the lake will not be closed for fishing. However, up until April 13th, it is illegal to possess or kill any trout that are caught. You must catch and release only until the season officially starts.

The gate to the Family Campground will be open beginning April 13th for fishermen, hikers, bikers and horseback riders. However, the Campground will not be open for camping until May 17th. Anyone interested in camping for the first weekend of Trout Season may do so in the Nature Lodge area only. You will need to register at the Park Office. You can camp in tents, campers or rent a pavilion on a first-come-first-serve basis. Tent camping is $10 per night, electric sites are $15 per night and pavilions are available for $20 per night.

In spite of the cold weather, Park staff are preparing for the upcoming summer season. Many new picnic tables have been built to replace the older worn out ones and new charcoal grills will soon be installed replacing several broken ones at the pavilions and the Cottage. Park visitors will also notice new signs throughout the Park and in the Family Campground.

The Park office hours are Monday-Saturday from 9 AM until 5 PM. Sunday hours are 10 AM until 4 PM. Reservations, prices and other information for camping, pavilion rentals & the Cottage & Farmhouse can be obtained and made now by contacting the Park Office at: 814-676-6116, or toll free at: 1-877-896-6453. You can also obtain the latest News & Events for the Park by clicking here. The Park mailing address is: Two Mile Run County Park, 471 Beach Road, Franklin, PA 16323.

The next Full Moon Night Hike & kids' Easter egg hunt is scheduled for April 6th leaving the Nature Lodge at 7 PM.

Anyone interested in the June 22nd Horseback Riding Challenge can go to the web site section "Horseback Trail Ride Info".

The details of the New Boat Launch Project continue to be worked on and it is still hoped to get the project underway this spring.

New prices for camping & the Cottage & Farmhouse rentals have also been posted. Pavilion rental prices remain the same as last year.

Spring is not far off! Trout Season opens April 13th. The Family Campground is scheduled for a trial run the weekend of May 17th and will officially open for Memorial Day Weekend.

Our 2,695 acre Park with its 144 acre Justus Lake and nearly 28 miles of trails make it a year-round great place to have fun and simply enjoy the outdoors.
