Parent-Child Interaction Therapy

Overview

This office based treatment program aims at improving the parent-child relationship. The treatment uses a one way mirror and in vivo coaching through an ear bud worn by the parent. The therapist will coach them on their interactions with their child. The intervention consists of the following phases: 

  1. Assessment Phase
  2. Child-Directed Intervention Phase
  3. Parent-Directed Intervention Phase

Average Length of Service

An average of 16-20 weeks

Frequency & Location of Contacts

These office visits occur on a weekly basis.

Eligibility

Parent or parents with a child 2-7 years of age will focus on caregiver/parent interaction by addressing the following:

  1. Positive interactions
  2. Strengthening pro-social child behaviors
  3. Developing appropriate consequences for behaviors and managing acting out behaviors across all settings.
